This time I added a tie and the knot is a separate piece. I had a bit more fun with the hair. The client was nice enough to send me an e-mail saying it arrived in pristine condition and she loved it.

Gift tags- or Ornaments
Recycle- REUSE

Cardboard tube ornaments
- Flatten the cardboard tube.
- Cut in 1/4" sections
- Glue tips together. Either white glue or a glue gun but I always, always burn my fingers with that.
- Leave to dry.
- Add your tag with butchers twine.

Recycle a used light bulb. Put on a pair of safety glasses. Get a pair of pliers and pull out the top of the bulb. Take a Chinese chop stick and break out the inside parts. Rinse out with water before adding any plants.

Shipped off my biggest Pop-Up Book project - ever to a NYC client, last week. That is to say the most Pop-Ups in one book. He even called me after it arrived. I loved hearing all the nice things he had to say about my book - he actually yelled in my ear:
"You are amazing - it is beyond my biggest dreams of what it would look like."

I still have a long way to go.

That is so impressive that he even called. Most projects, I just get an E-mail to say they received the book

Have worked on a couple of new designs this week and getting together the plan for a High School graduate.
Shipped off a project to Australia last week, also. Only 3 Pop-Ups and 2 of them were record players with double layers showing the top and bottom of the mechanical record.

Mechanical Car -pull the tab and the car wizzes to the right.

Coat of Arms - also called a Crest - Pops- Up as the viewer opens the book

It loaded easily to my website and actually worked. Yippie!

This could be the start of something big! The process will be so helpful in showing pop-up actions of paper.

The card is all one piece with the USA flag added as a separate piece. Folds flat to mail.

Halloween Pop-Up 4 sided card

This one took me 15 plus tries to get it to close as fast as it Pops-Up. I am calling them 'Designer Samples' and will give them away with my first couple of sales. Each one has a tiny flaw and I often wonder what other designers do with their first trials of a design. What do you do with your beginning designs?

In an effort to be 'green' and not be wasteful I am giving the imperfect ones away with my first couple of sales.

I bought a hat for my rescue dog. I was sure she had been a show dog because she is so good during grooming and most other times. She does not like the hat at all and could not get it off fast enough. No more clothes for the dog.

Braille Pop-Up Butterfly Card

Some of my presentations have been for school age children. I was thrilled that every child walked away with a Pop-Up card they had made. Before each presentation I made sure I had the appropriate level pop-up card to suit the new audience. If it takes a lot of explaining, where I do most of the talking, I found it is less fun for the children.

My presentation to a class of 15 Juniors with Autism has been the most interesting thus far. I signed in through Security at the High School and one girl from the class was sent to bring me to the Art room. She was a very happy girl and before I knew it, we were in the room. My biggest fear was that I would not have enough to fill the 2 hours scheduled for me. Time flew and we all seemed to have fun. One girl had a melt down and left the room with a 1 to 1 assistant, but came back before the end of class. I learned a lot from these High School students. They suggested how to cut down some of the steps to create the card. One young man showed me some new angles to change the card we were working on into a totally different card.

One girl loved cats and she changed the card into a Pop-Up cat card. One boy loved computers and explained to me about 3D-4D graphics programs and offered to show me how to do my own programming. These young men and women made me think perhaps I was the challenged one as I left the school. They made my mind smile.

I have found that the age group does not seem to matter when teaching how to make a Pop-Up card. Entheusiasm seems to be the driving force. Pop-ups are an excellent way to improve reading and math skills.

Perhaps you would like to make a butterfly Pop-Up card.

Teach sighted children some Braille and have them make a Pop-Up Butterfly card.

I would like to think a sight impaired person could make this card with the help of a Braille machine first.

To make the Pop-Up Butterfly card, please do the following:
Right click on each of the photos below, and save to your computer
Remember where you save each one to, then go back into the file and print each of the 3 pages.
Follow the instructions and have fun.

Things you need and instructions on are on the first page:
